WALKER, Vickie Lynn went home to be with the Lord suddenly on Christmas Day, 2023 as a result of a traffic accident. She was born in Nashville, TN on the 8th day of July, 1952 to the late Clarence R. and Dorothy (Clark) Koehn. She attended John Overton High School, Middle Tennessee State University where she studied art, and later the University of Louisiana, Monroe where she graduated with a BA in Education.
While in Monroe, Louisiana, Vickie and her former husband, Rickey Walker, produced a great joy in their lives, a son, Rickey L. Walker, Jr. Vickie spent two years as an educator in Louisiana before dedicating herself full-time to motherhood. Later, her family moved back to her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee where she taught school again before becoming a successful realtor. In later life, she moved to Panama City Beach, Florida where she lived and managed a rental condo she had purchased. Proving adept at providing superior customer service, she purchased a second rental condo to manage which she later resold at a profit. She also purchased her primary residence in Panama City Beach to which she made significant renovations, most all done by her own hands.
Vickie’s main joys in life were her son, grandson, her dear friends near and far, dancing, music, and the beach. Joyfully, her love for, and understanding of, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ blossomed while in PCB as she was discipled by a loving peer group.
Vickie Lynn Walker lived a full life made more remarkable by the hard truth that she did so while battling Crohn’s disease and its extreme complications for over 50 years. This disease was contracted when she was just 19 years old.
In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by one brother, Clarence R. Koehn, III, and a niece, Montana Doubleday. Vickie is survived by her son, Rickey L. Walker, Jr. (& Pamela), a beloved grandson John, a sister, Cheri Doubleday, a brother, Kurt Koehn (& Melissa), a nephew, Daniel Doubleday (& Faith), nieces, Jessica Doubleday, Alexandra Rassas (& Thomas), and Savannah Koehn, a sort of niece Skylar Pile, great nephews, Caleb, Steven, Jacob, and Samuel Doubleday, and great nieces Sarah Beth Doubleday and Kenna Rassas.
Visitation will be held at Ten O’Clock in the morning, on Saturday the 6th of January, 2024 followed by a Celebration of Life service at Eleven O’Clock at the West Rutledge Event Center in Pegram, Tennessee. Pastor Chad Randall of LifeStory Church will officiate. Entombment will be in the Woodlawn Mausoleum in Nashville, Tennessee. An additional Celebration of Life service will be held in Panama City Beach, Florida for Vickie’s dear friends in Florida on January 20, 2024. Location and time to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made out to either The Assistance Fund (TAF) by calling 855-421-4610 or visiting tafcares.org. (TAF funded a $300,000/year Short Bowell Syndrome drug for her, vastly improving her quality of life), or to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation at crohnscolitisfoundation.org
