She was born on July 18, 1956 in Nashville to Wendell Charles Ethridge and Elsie Orene Scott at Baptist Hospital. Her loving and devoted husband, Norman Manning, preceded her in death on Sept. 21st, 2011. She is survived by her children, Robert (Desiree) Hopwood, and grandchildren, James, Alex, Rose, and Matthew Hopwood, all of Joelton; daughter, Corrine (Alexa Joy) Hopwood of Hendersonville. She is also survived by her brother, Ricky (Linda) Scott, her sisters Cynthia (Troy) Melin, Wendy (Sambo) Bly, Rebecca Ethridge, and her brothers-in-law, David (Linda) Manning and James (Sherry) Manning.
Theresa was an amazing wife to Norman Manning, husband of 24 years, and a wonderful mother
of two children, but also dedicated her life to caring for others in need whether they were animals or humans. She enjoyed having projects to work on both in and outside the home, spending time with her friends and her husband doing pretty much anything that came to mind from BBQ’s in the backyard to road trips to Florida on a whim. She loved spending Sundays with Norm and all their friends tailgating at the Titans Games, spending lots of time in the church, volunteering with Meals on Wheels and other charities. When her children had grown into adults and Norm passed away, she then devoted her time and love to fostering pets in need and taking care of her aging mother, Elsie, along with Melinda (Justin) Waffird in her home as long as she could. She was involved and passionate about local politics, loved their pets, Bruno (dec’d), Morgan (dec’d), & Oreo who will be going to his new home with Melinda to be kept fat and happy until the end of his days. Theresa was loved by so many in her life but she’d hardly accept that notion for herself as she would just brush it off as “that’s what you do” and leave it at that. She was truly one-of-a-kind.
