Tommy D. Gentry, age 85, of Star City, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3rd, 2024. Born in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, on June 30th, 1938. He married Janys Scifres Gentry on December 16th, 1988, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Throughout his career in the trucking industry, he worked with companies including: Merchants, Dollar General, Penske, and Ryder. Tommy was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in Lafayette, Tennessee. Beyond his professional pursuits, Tommy was a man of many passions. He found joy in woodworking and when it came to dining, few things brought him greater pleasure than savoring a plate of delicious catfish.
Tommy is survived by his beloved wife, Janys (Jan) Gentry, and children: Jeff Gentry, Jennifer Gentry Williams, Mike Minor, Mark Minor, and Matthew Minor. His grandchildren, Hillary Howard Love, Judy Gentry Wright, Eric Gentry, and Neelie Minor Powell, along with great-grandchildren Haddie Love, Rip Wright, and Harper Love. He also leaves behind his siblings, Geneva Netherland and Virginia Brockette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Daisy Gentry, and his siblings, Willis Gentry and Grady Gentry, who preceded him in death.
A Gathering of Family and Friends to honor Tommy's memory will be held on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. A Celebration of Life Service will commence at 4:00pm, followed by a Graveside Service at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
