Teddy Paul Cox of Donelson passed from this life on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the age of 91. Ted was born on March 4th, 1931 to the late Paul and Naomi Mitchell Cox. He graduated from Giles County High School in 1949. After high school he attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, but his college education was interrupted when he was drafted into the Korean War. He served in the United States Air Force with the 41st Radio Squadron and was stationed in Germany.
Upon returning home Ted began a career with Southern Bell in the toll test room. He transferred to South Central Bell and began working as an Engineer in Facilities Management until his retirement from AT&T in 1989.
As a young man Ted enjoyed boating, fishing and water sports. Ted also loved to fly airplanes. He got his private pilot’s license at Cornelia Fort Airport, but he made his home base at Hunter Field in Spring Hill, Tn. He spent most weekends there with friends who became known as the “Hunter Buzzards”.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Christopher Cox, and a sister, Frances Corinne Cox. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann; his daughter Lesley Lawson (Jim); his son Michael Cox (Andrea); his brother David Cox (Bobbie) of Mooresville, North Carolina; Brother-in-Law, Bill Holman; six grandchildren, Ann Marie Lawson, Katie Lawson(Will), Elizabeth Lawson, Kailey Cox, Mikayla Bramlett(Dexter), and Kevin Hocking; three nieces, Amy Herring (Kevin), Vicki Polk (Mike), and Carol McVey (Tim); and one nephew, Billy Holman.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and caregiver's at Kempton of Hermitage for their care, attention and support during their time of need.
Visitation with the family will be held on June 11, 2022 at Donelson Presbyterian Church beginning at 11:30 a.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Paul Casner. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the P.J. New Hall.
