Retired, he enjoyed going fishing, growing tomatoes, squash and other vegetables, watching Andy Griffin and WWE Wresting on television.
Mr. Ray is survived by his wife, Dorothy Cox; children, Candy Popplewell, Randy Cox, Rickey Cox, Tammy Jones, Cathy Fugate; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Odel Bennett, Cecil Cole, James Cole and sister, Ruthie Gauteria.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 1:00 Thursday, July 1, 2021 in the chapel of Eastland Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2:45 in Springhill Cemetery, Nashville, Tennessee.
