Sarah Chambers Smith

Sarah was born on August 7, 1946 in Nashville, TN to Martin and Sarah Katherine Hancock Chambers. Sarah is a graduate of Hillsboro High School and continued her education at Middle Tennessee State University. She married Howard Kenneth Smith at Ferguson Memorial Chapel at Belmont Methodist Church on March 15, 1969. They had a wonderful marriage for over 53 years.

Sarah spent 40 years with American Airlines as a lead gate agent before her retirement in 2008. There are many words that could describe Sarah, however, the words kind, generous, loving and dedicated describe her best. She was a devoted wife and mother. Sarah was very proud of her career and family. She poured herself into her relationships and loved spending time at home with her loved ones discussing all manner of topics and events. Some of Sarah’s favorite hobbies were antiquing, needlepoint, and visiting with family and friends.

Sarah is survived by her Husband, H.K. Smith; Brother, Rodger Martin Chambers; Sons, David Scott Smith (Jessica) and Matthew Alan Smith (Jesseh); Granddaughter, Sloane Kathryn Smith.

Sarah is preceded in death by her Parents, Martin Rodgers Chambers and Sarah Katherine Chambers.

A Gathering of Family and Friends for Sarah will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
