Sarah Peyton Oxford, age 78, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, born to the late Gerald and Jane Peyton, passed away on June 24, 2021. A graduate of East High School and UT Nashville where she earned her Associates Degree in Nursing. She later earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the College of St. Francis. In early years, she was a patrol lady for her local elementary school and played violin for the Nashville Junior Symphony. Her nursing career started in 1979 at West Side Hospital in Orthopedics, then The Parthenon Pavilion with Psychiatric patients, and later at Miller Medical Clinic as a Patient Educator. The majority of her nursing career involved managing clinical trials throughout the US for multiple pharmaceutical companies.
During retirement she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Skyline Hospital. Additionally she served the community by reading to Metro Nashville school children. She was an avid reader, world traveler, adventurer and a lover of music and theater. She was also an accomplished seamstress, painter, and needle worker.
Her pride and joy was her family and friends. Blessed are the people who knew her because hearts do not get any kinder.
Survived by daughters Cheryl Plummer (Alan), Carol Madison (Ron), and son Rob Oxford. Grandchildren Brandon and Brooks Plummer, Zach Madison (Kim), Sarah McDonald (Blake). Great grandchildren Luke and Barret McDonald and Peyton Madison.
The family would like to thank all the “at home” caregivers as well as the staff at Maple Cottage of Hendersonville for their love and devotion.
