Sally Frances Sears, born Sally Frances Barry-Ledeaux, in Children’s Hospital New York, received her B.S in Chemistry from Hunter College. During her work as a Biochemist she coauthored research on Bilirubin which was published in JAMA. While working on her PhD in Biochemistry at NYU she met Walter E. Sears and they married on June 29, 1957. Among her many accomplishments, Mrs. Sears was voted President of the Wives Club in Hawaii while her husband was a Captain in the Marine Corps; voted Deaconess and then Head Deaconess of McLean Presbyterian Church in McLean Virginia. Perhaps her proudest accomplishment was to help reelected Ronald Reagan for a second term by singularly spear heading Military voter drives throughout the world. Tirelessly traveling throughout the United States, she educated Military voting officers on state requirements, forms and deadlines and helped set a new precedent of Military participation in politics which had previously been openly discouraged. She is survived by her daughter Anne A. Sears, son Ian S. Sears, daughter-in-law Anne Marie Sears and grandchildren children Callum, Connor, Andrew, Lachlan, and Emilie Sears. Burial service will be held in Quantico National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on July 11, 2016. A Memorial service will be held at Montessori Academy, 6021 Cloverland Dr, Brentwood, TN 37027, on July 23, 2016 from 10:00 am- 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a gift donation to the Grace Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
