Roy Johnson Ross

Roy Johnson Ross, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at his home in Mount Juliet, TN after a brief illness. He was born on November 21, 1932 in Rutherford County, TN to the late Albert Ross and Maggie Warpool Ross. He was preceded in death by brothers Rudolph Ross, Joseph Ross, Sidney Ross, Raymond Ross, Bernard Ross, and Albert Ross Jr., and sisters Nellie Ross, Jessie Wrather, Nannie Gannon, Dorothy Winfrey, and Bessie Sauls. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Loma Higgins Ross; daughter, Carolyn Ross of Old Hickory; son, Randy Ross of Mount Juliet; granddaughters, Shannon Hills of Mount Juliet and Amber Hanna (Jeff) of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Howard Ross of Murfreesboro; sister, Alice Russell (Robert) of New Johnsonville; and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Mr. Ross was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Juliet. After serving in the United States Army in Korea, he married Loma Higgins on January 12, 1957. He made his living as a mechanic, and he built a reputation as someone who could fix or repair just about anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family, serving in the church, woodworking, working on his cars and in his gardens, and doing odd jobs around the house. Two of his favorite foods were ice cream and Sugar Daddies, and he was an excellent Rook player. Above all, he loved his family, his friends, and most importantly his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN. Visitation will also be Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with a memorial service at 1:00 PM and a graveside service immediately following.
