LOTT, Robert Bailey “Bob”, age 88, was called home to be with his Lord on February 1, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Walter and Ruth Lott and his sisters Ruthelia Lott Buchi and Lorene Bean. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carolyn Myrick Lott; children Robert “Rick” (Jean) Lott, Lana Lott (Mike) Settle, Kenneth (Jolene) Lott and Russell (Melissa) Lott; grandchildren Robert “Greg” (Shelley) Lott, Lori Lott (Kevin) Szathmary, Lindy Settle (Chad) Cunningham, Mark Settle, Lauren Lott, Matthew “Matt” Lott and Michaela Lott; great grandchildren Macey Lott, Gabrielle Lott, and Beren Cunningham; sister Harriet (Charles) Thompson; brother Walter “Bud” (Betty) Lott and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob graduated from East Nashville High school in 1943 and attended Peabody College. He was proud and honored serving his country in the Army Air Force as a Pilot for three years. Mr. Lott served during World War II in Okinawa, Japan. He was the 1st Pilot on a B-25 Bomber and flew five missions over the Japanese Islands before the war ended. Bob played the saxophone and clarinet and led his own band before going into the service. While in the service, he played in the Army band and organized and played in a band while in occupational Japan. After leaving the service, Bob played with Henry Corcoran Band and The Establishment in Nashville. Mr. Lott was a well rounded individual and had several careers. He operated Lott-Moore Lumber Co., was in insurance sales, a co-pilot for McLean Trucking Co., taught school, was a dispatcher and manager at Madison and Transit Ready Mix, and retired as a salesman for Modern Marine. He loved sports, coached a youth football team and was active in tennis and golf. Visitation will be held today from 1-5pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1pm on Monday, the 4th of February, 2013 in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with visitation held two hours prior to the service. Interment to follow at Woodlawn. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Alzheimer’s Association or Avalon Hospice.
