He was preceded in death by his parents Mernice and Mary Shelby Irby, and his brother Elwyn Irby.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Alford Irby; daughter, Anne Irby Neyland (Ron); grandchildren, Andrew (Sydnee), and Amanda. His son, John Irby (Susan); grandson, Joe (Ashton); great-grandson, James William; and nephew, Dr. James Irby (Margaret).
Bob was a graduate of George Peabody College and a senior partner at Gale, Smith & Co., Inc. He was a longtime member of Belmont Heights Baptist Church.
A gathering of family and friends for Robert will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:30 pm at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. The service will be conducted by Rev. John Garner and Rev. Jason Cruise.
