Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Richard Carr, passed away peacefully after several years of declining health on June 2, 2016, the 54th wedding anniversary for him and devoted wife Brenda L. Carr.
He is preceded in death by his mother Katherine Hollis; stepfather Odell Hollis; brother Hubert Carr; and sister Janie Maynard.
Survived by wife, Brenda; daughter, Darlene (Jeff) Parrish; son Denny (Ginger) Carr; six grandchildren, Tiffany (Matt) Nason; Brianna (Dylan) Gronbach; Katelyn Carr, Amanda Carr, Kinsley Carr, and Colton Carr; six great grandchildren, Sydney, Brayden, Hannah, Jeffrey, Michael, and Jackson Nason; brothers Zina (Karen) Carr; Red Carr; Robert (Barbara) Carr; and sisters Maggie (Marvin) Hamm; Mitzie (Jr.) White; and Alice Hall.
Richard retired from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 572 in 2005 after 35 years of service. His last years of service were spent doing control work at Honeywell in Nashville, Tennessee.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 -8:00 P.M. Saturday, June 4th, 2016 and 1:30-2:30 P.M. Sunday, June 5th with service to follow at 2:30 P.M.
Richard faithfully served through the years as a deacon and on building maintenance committees at Haywood Hills Baptist Church and volunteered many hours to reduce expenses for building maintenance. For this reason, the family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Haywood Hills Baptist Church Building Maintenance Fund.
