We were clients of Richard's, but considered him a very good friend. He always may us feel secure even when we had all those questions. He really was great at what he did, even making us laugh, comparing my brother Mike and I to each other saying, Don't worry about it, I got it. Richard was our friend and advisor for over 20 years. He helped us so much!
We enjoyed his visits and would often just sit and talk about our families. He was so proud of you all. We have children close to the same ages. A boy and girl too.
Richard was a very smart man. He was also very giving of his time. He advised us very well on business issues concerning our herb farm. We called on him often and he was never too busy to talk.
We just got a call with the news. We are so sad, yet we feel blessed to have known him. We will keep him and all of you in our prayers.

My heart aches long with you, the family, as well as the hearts of so many. Richard was a pillar at Croft...never missing an opportunity to help and serve us. His legacy will be forever celebrated in the halls of Croft. He is missed so much already. Croft doesn't seem the same without him. From athletics, to PTO, to Life Skills, to Open House....he was always there. He touched so many. My last encounter with Richard, was him collecting clothes for two needy students. Croft Middle School has lost the most dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer and friend any school could ever hope to have. There were few days during the eight years of Croft's existence when Richard's energy and smile were not present. Whenever there was a need Richard would be there, often unbeckoned, with an extended hand. A struggling athletic program needing help? Richard was there with a concession stand and donated food. A fundraiser to serve 500 meals? Richard lined up the food, helped prepare and serve it, and then coordinated the cleanup. A wheel-chair bound student needing assistance on a field trip or a principal desperate for parent leadership? Who else but Richard Buck? Day after day, year after year. Thank you for your unselfish service to the Croft family Richard, you will be deeply missed but certainly never forgotten.

Joy, my heart just breaks for you and your children. Your loss is so great and I am so sorry you must endure this type of pain. You are a wonderful, sweet, kind, and giving woman, mother, nurse,and friend. Allow God to carry you through this...he will heal your heart in time.
