He was born on October 5, 1928, in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of the late Rhea L., Sr and Ruth Curtis. Mr. Curtis was raised in Burns, Waverely, and as a 17 year old, moved to Clinton, Iowa to live with his aunt and uncle. He then moved back to Nashville around 1956. He was a United States Army Veteran and served in Korea from 1951 until 1952. He retired from Metropolitan Nashville Public Works after being employed with them for 33 ½ years. He enjoyed life to its fullest and will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emma Jane Cummings Curtis; children, Charles Robert Curtis and his wife, Sue, Brenda Lee Curtis Sullivan and her husband, Terry, WA Curtis and his wife, Angela, Robert Allen Curtis and his wife, Dena, and Fred Wayne Curtis; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 11:00 am with military honors and Brother Gary McCaleb officiating.
Interment will follow at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, Tennessee, at 1:00 pm.
