He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Sue Ann Mannion Simpson, grandson, William Francis Enneis, great-grandson, John David Adams and 11 siblings. He is survived by his nine children, Sue Ann Enneis (Bill) of Alachua, Florida, Michael (Andrea) of Bartlett, Tennessee, Mark, Margaret Dunning (Brian), Patrick (Stephanie), Frank (Margaret), Jim (Ellen), Kathleen Pearson (Eddie), and Paul (Sallie); 29 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, a sister, Alice Pauline Thompson (Billy) and sister-in-law, Mary Frances Johnson. Simpson, Phillip Grover of Nashville died March 30, 2016 after an extended illness.
Phillip worked for Town & Country Dry Cleaners for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. .
He graduated from North High School and George Peabody College.
Phillip was a member of the American Legion, a member of the TSSAA Hall of Fame, a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus, a former Grand Knight of Council #544, a former Faithful Navigator, the Serra Club and above all, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him.
Phillip became an American Hero while serving in the Army, the 3rd Infantry, 752nd Field Artillery Battalion in World War II. Some of the major battles he fought in were: Northern France, Ardennes (also known as “The Battle of the Bulge”), Rhineland and Central Europe.
Visitation with the family will be held at Christ the King Catholic church on Sunday, April 3rd from 3:00-5:00 pm and 7:00-8:30 pm with a rosary beginning at 3:00 pm and the Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Monday, April 4th at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
