Phillip David Byrd, 59, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. David was born in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, to Phillip and Margaret (Carroll) Byrd. He graduated from Central City High School and later Murray State University with a degree in accounting. He made his living as a Certified Public Accountant, working for several companies over the years. He and his wife Becky made their home in Nashville, Tennessee.
David loved his Savior, his family, his church, the Green Bay Packers, Nashville Predators, and the Kentucky Wildcats. Over the years, he served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher, children’s ministry worker, finance committee member, and deacon. One could argue his favorite way to serve was singing in the choir. David loved to sing, especially about Jesus, and he passed that love on to his children and grandchildren. Recently, he participated in several mission trips with Giles Creek Baptist Church where he was a member.
David leaves behind his beloved wife of over 37 years, Becky; his 4 children, Tara (Brad) Montgomery, Christopher (Lenae) Byrd, Marisha Byrd, and Nicholas Byrd; 7 grandchildren, Hallie, Brenna, and Baby Girl Montgomery, and Patrick, Jackson, Lincoln, and Baby Girl Byrd; 2 sisters, Sarah (William) McKee and Charlotte (Dal) Cottrell, brother-in-law Mike Davis; 4 nieces, and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Phyllis Davis.
A Gathering of Family and Friends with the family will begin at eleven o'clock in the morning on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Giles Creek Baptist Church of Smyrna, TN followed by a celebration of life service at two o'clock in the afternoon, with the Reverend Terry Campbell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to purchase Bibles through Gideon's International or to Giles Creek Baptist Church for future mission trips.
