

Philip R. Templeton, age 87, of Nashville died peacefully with his family Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. He was a native of Chesapeake, OH and the son of the late Philip Armour Templeton and Alma Lenora Langdon.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Davis Templeton, two daughters Teresa (Michael) Marchetti and Traci (Todd) Smith, grandchildren Anna Marchetti, Maddy Marchetti, Olivia Smith, Miles Smith, his brother Tom Templeton, nieces Tommie Sue(Tom) Templeton, and Peggy (Edward) King, and nephew Mike Templeton.
He is preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Philip Templeton.
Mr. Templeton was drafted in into the army in 1945 and served in the 759th Military Police Battalion in Germany. His duties there included escorting General Dwight Eisenhower and other Allied dignitaries. After the service he moved to Kingsport, TN where he joined his brother in business as co-owner of Quick Way Engine Co. He later started a second business, P and M Internal Engine Parts, with his nephew Mike Templeton. Mr. Templeton loved his life in Kingsport and enjoyed a multitude of activities with his family. His favorite pastime was water skiing and he was well known for his patience in teaching all that were willing.
After he retired, he and his wife Barbara moved to Murfreesboro where he was active in Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels.
His finally landed in Nashville where he spent the remainder of his years enjoying his children and grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his kindness and thoughtfulness. He was a wonderful father, a loving husband and a dear friend.
Visitation will be at the Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Ave N., on Thursday April 24, 2014 from 5-8 pm. The funeral mass will celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday April 25th at The Cathedral of the Incarnation.
For those who are unable to attend the service in Nashville, a memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Kingsport, TN. Visitation with the family will follow the service at the church.
