After 64 years of filling lives with his friendly smile, his genial, outsized presence, and his perpetual optimism, Peter Francis Strobel of Murfreesboro passed away on July 29, 2024.
A student at Cathedral Grade School and St. Ann Grade School, Peter went on to enjoy his Father Ryan High School experience, graduating in 1977, serving as a football trainer, a member of the Foreign Exchange and Photography clubs, and being voted “Friendliest” by his classmates.
After high school, Peter found a variety of employment callings, including in retail sales and in the service industry, but it was the opportunity to work with the Freewill Baptist Church Family Ministry Program where he found his greatest satisfaction. Working at one of the organization’s homes in East Tennessee, and later at one in Donelson, for several years, Peter’s big heart was on display, welcoming and caring for young adults who were dealing with a variety of health and life issues. In a life of making people smile, that work made him smile the most.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, Raymond Charles and Bertie Greer Strobel, and by his eldest brother, Raymond C. Strobel, Jr.
He is survived by his daughters, Aubrey Lin Strobel and Brittney Ruth Strobel; his siblings, Margaret Strobel, Frederick Strobel (Monica), Rosemary Strobel Hehn (Jack), Kathryn Strobel Knoeller (Charlie), and Philip Strobel (Valerie); his Aunt Joan Strobel; 10 nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and great-nephews, and numerous Strobel and Greer relatives.
Peter’s daughters and siblings invite family and friends to join them for a visitation and graveside service at Calvary Cemetery, 1001 Lebanon Pike, on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 10:00-11:30am, where Peter will be interred with his parents and with his brother, Ray. That will make them and Peter smile.
If you want to remember Peter in a special way, the family suggests a gift in his memory to the Bertie Greer Strobel Fund at Father Ryan High School.(https://www.fatherryan.org/give/named-scholarships)
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. God bless you, Peter.
