Peggy was born on September 9, 1935 in Nashville, the daughter of Samuel Goodwin Hunt and Ellen Barnes. She married Glynn D. Murphy, and he precedes her in death. Also preceding her in death are her parents; one son, Glynn D. Murphy, Jr.; and sisters, Virginia Hunt, Billie Sue Hunt, Clara Green, Earline Tillman, Mozelle Shipe, Margaret Graham, and Allie Mae Lankford.
Surviving is one son, Mitchell (wife, Madhumita) Murphy; one granddaughter, Meghan (husband, Aaron) Turnington; and one great-grandson, Carson Turnington.
Peggy was truly a selfless person. She was an incomprehensible giver, who loved everyone she met. She had a great sense of humor and she never missed “The Bachelor” or “Dancing with the Stars.” Peggy had a great love for animals and loved being outdoors in the sun. She was a long-time member of West Nashville Presbyterian Church and she was a School Mother Patrol for Hillwood High School.
She was a loving wife, vibrant mother, proud grandmother, joyous great-grandmother, caring sister, and a wonderful friend to many. Peggy will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peggy’s honor to Alive Hospice, 1710 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
