Peggy Fox Kelly passed from this life on April 18, 2018, in the presence of her family. She was preceded in death by husbands; William Hayes Montgomery and Clinton Jones Morgan; parents, Ladye Inman Fox and Herbert Franklin Fox; brothers, Herbert Franklin Fox, Jr. and Edward Inman Fox; and son- in- law, Raymond Moberly.
Peggy was born in Nashville, TN, on August 8, 1924. She was educated at Parmer School, Ward- Belmont Preparatory School, and attended Vanderbilt University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Peggy married Bill Montgomery, from Greenwood, MS, in 1945. Peggy and Bill resided in Nashville, TN, during the first years of their marriage and the birth of two children. They moved to Greenwood, MS, in 1950, as Bill joined his father in the cotton business. Their third child was born soon after, and although Peggy stayed very busy caring for her family, she was always interested in civic affairs. She was active in the Greenwood Junior Auxiliary, Garden Club, PTA, League of Women Voters, Presbyterian Church, and Greenwood Little Theater.
Peggy returned to Nashville after Bill’s death in 1969. She worked at Third National Bank for several years before having, in her own words, “the good fortune to learn the real estate business from J. Fred Pilkerton.” She retired in 1990, a Life Member of the Million Dollar Club. Peggy was a member of the Centennial Club and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie Dorris Kelly of Nashville; daughters; Ladye Montgomery Berry (Kevin) of Adelaide, Australia, and Lily Montgomery Moberly of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Lemuel Eggleston Montgomery, II (Linda) of Port Gibson, MS; grandsons; Lem Montgomery, III (Jenny) and Will Montgomery (Laura) both of Madison, MS, and four great grandchildren, Mallory Montgomery, Lem Montgomery, IV, William Montgomery, and Lucy Montgomery. She is also survived by stepsons, Owen Kelly ( Ann ) and Mark Kelly (Mary Herbert) both of Nashville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery on May 1, 2018, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to the First Presbyterian Church, 4815 Franklin Pike, Nashville TN 37220.
