He began his education at Craigfield Elementary, then he graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1953. He also attended Austin Peay. Paul’s first job was teaching grades 1st through 8th. He later worked at Anderson Brothers, gas station and car repair. Paul started working at the Newspaper Printing Corporation in 1956. He started out in the Accounting Department making $58 a week and worked his way up to Payroll Supervisor and retired after 42 years in 1998. He met his future wife on a blind date on a Halloween night October 31, 1958. They were married on May 4, 1959, and enjoyed 62 years together.
Paul is survived by his children,Trish Rainey (Donnie) Hammonds, Jeff (Karen) Rainey, Michael (Susan) Rainey; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tyson) Donaldson, Matthews Hammonds, Loren Rainey; great grandchildren, Brody, Bryce, Brett Donaldson; sister, Pearlene Pendergrass; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Paul is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Rainey; great-granddaughter, Blakelyn Donaldson; and 10 siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Antioch United Methodist Church or Alive Hospice-Murfreesboro
