Mildred grew up in the surrounding Nashville area and graduated from Isaac Litton High School. She always had a strong work ethic. At the age of fourteen (14), she began work at the Madison Movie Theatre. Later, she worked two summers at the Opryland U.S.A. Theme Park in Nashville.

She eventually earned the title of Senior Customer Service Representative and retired after forty-two (42) years. Not one to be idle, Mildred eventually accepted the position of Front Desk Personnel with the (then) Imperial Manor Convalescent Center in Madison. She held that position for twelve (12) years. She finally retired at the age of eighty-one.
