Michael (Mike) Robert Shampain, age 81, passed away on January 29, 2024. Born September 28, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Irving and Irma Shampain, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pamela (Pam) Ewing Shampain, son Steven Michael Shampain, Son-ln-Law David Wesley Weinel, brother Richard Shampain of Dallas, Texas, brother-in-law Gregg Evans Ewing of Santa Rosa, California, and the joy of the family, grandson Sawyer Skye Shampain. Upon graduation from St. Marks School of Texas in Dallas he attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, where he met and married Pam. Mike and Pam subsequently transferred to and graduated from San Jose State University in San Jose, California, followed by a move to Dallas, Texas.
In Dallas, Mike began a 29-year retail merchandising career with Neiman-Marcus and Federated Department stores before finally settling in Nashville. Upon arrival in Nashville, he initiated a second career as a Financial Advisor with Bank of America Investments for 13 years before retiring.
One of Mike's favorite Bible verses is:
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
Jeremiah 29:11-13
Mike always believed it was the hand of God that led him to be baptized at First Presbyterian Church, Nashville, where he served as a Deacon, Stephen Minister, and on several church committees. Blessed with a servant's heart Mike served as a mentor at Preston Taylor Ministries, Monroe Harding and Men of Valor. Together, Mike and Pam also were blessed to be able to share the Gospel for over a decade of mission trips to Cuba.
Since Mike was a life-long lover of Charles Schultz "Peanuts", it's fitting we say goodbye with: "Good grief Charlie Brown, Mike is gone!"
Thanks be to God for Mike's life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church Nashville, Men of Valor, Preston Taylor Ministries, or Alive Hospice.
The Family will receive friends for a visitation at First Presbyterian Church Nashville, on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 12:30pm-1:45pm. The memorial service will follow in the sanctuary at 2pm.
