Merle William Martin Sr.

He was born on October 17, 1942 to Dallas Martin and Jonetta Stemple in Grafton, West Virginia. He was married to Barbara Gregory. Merle owned a barber shop on Charlotte Pike in Nashville, TN for over 30 years.

Merle loved coaching softball and traveling with the team on many softball trips over the years. He loved all sports in general, however, he particularly loved the Tennessee Titans and Alabama football. Merle was funny and was such a great soul to be around from vacations to the barber shop. Many of his friends and family will miss how sweet and kind he was to everyone, and how willing he was to help anyone in need. He loved family get togethers and being surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Gregory; mother, Jonetta Stemple, and Daughter, Barbara (Charles) Park.

Merle is survived by his sister, Marilyn Ragsdale; Daughters, Joanne (Tim) Parker, Merlinda (Mike) Minton; Son, Merle Martin Jr.; Stepchildren, Ashley, Naomi, Mandy and Adam; Grandchildren, Ashley Holley and Robert Lumpkin, James, Joshua, and Amanda Johnson, Wesley and April Park and many more, and sixteen great grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends for Merle will be held Monday, December 26, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park with a gathering of family and friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
