Melvin Lee Powers

Melvin Lee Powers, age 55, of Columbia, Tennessee, formerly of Iron City, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Melvin was born to the late Donnie Ray and Margaret Dianne (Goolsby) Powers on September 24, 1967 in Loretto, Tennessee.

Melvin was a simple man that enjoyed everything in life. Melvin was a man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He enjoyed working with his hands from being a carpenter to working on cars. He loved life, some of his favorite things were going to concerts with family, and watching anything on the Motor Trend Channel. His family and friends were his pride and joy. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

Melvin was survived by his son, Blake Powers; daughter, Kelsey (Tony) Messer, mother of his children; Kimberly (Steve) Marrs; mother-in-law, Martha Lee Brown; brother-in-law, Keith Brown; special buddy, Domino Powers; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Besides his parents, Melvin is preceded in death by his grandparents, Beaumont and Snowie Goolsby, Buddy and Effie Powers; sister, Sandy Dowdy; brother, Pat Powers; father-in-law, Harold Brown.

A gathering of family & friends for Melvin will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a celebration of life from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
