Mary Virginia Simpkins – A lifelong resident of Nashville, TN, born to the late Edgar Pope Keeling and Maude Evans Ridley Keeling on the 7th of June 1913 and passed away at the age of 101 on the 10th of July 2014.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore Simpkins; and her son, Lynn Simpkins.
Survived by her daughter, Virginia Chilton; granddaughters, Nicole (Todd) Slyman and Michelle Lyn Copeland; and great-grandchildren, T.J. Slyman, Lauren Slyman, Jack Slyman, David Simpkins, Tyler Copeland, and Andrew Copeland.
Mary Virginia’s career was spent as an executive secretary at Baird-Ward Printing Company in Nashville, and was a member of the Brentwood Business and Professional Women’s Club. Her church membership was held at Crievewood United Methodist Church where she was active within several of the women’s organizations within the church.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 13th of July 2014 at Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with Reverend Peter Van Eys officiating.
The family will gather with the friends for a time of fellowship and remembrance two hours prior to the commencement of the service at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
Interment to follow the funeral service at Woodlawn Memorial Park in the Masonic Garden on the south side of Thompson Lane with an ice cream social to honor her memory.
Those serving as Active Pallbearers include: David Copeland, Tyler Copeland, Andrew Copeland, Todd Slyman, T.J. Slyman, and Jack Slyman. Honorary pallbearers will include the Crievewood United Methodist Church Builders Class.
