Mary Steadman Rucker, age 94, passed away on June 27, 2021. Mary was born in Taft, Tennessee to the late Roy Benton and Birdie Bell (Neely) Steadman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert P. Rucker, Sr.; siblings, Clyde Steadman and R. B. Steadman.
She is survived by her children, Patty (Bill) Carkeet of Germantown, Tennessee, Anne (Charlie) Melton of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Bob (Jackie) Rucker, Jr. of Brentwood, Tennessee and Beth (Jody) Taylor of Hendersonville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Chris (Brooke) Carkeet, of Memphis, Tennessee, Melissa (Chris) Boals of Memphis, Tennessee, Luke (Lauren) Melton of Lebanon, Tennessee, Brian (Alexandria) Melton of Gallatin, Tennessee, Robert (Sarah) Rucker, III of Madison, Wisconsin, Daniel (Rebecca) Rucker of Nashville, Tennessee, Joe E. Taylor III of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Benjamin W. Taylor of Hendersonville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Maggie, John, Will, Samantha, Anne Claire, Monroe, Ella Jane and Brock.
Mary was a graduate Saint Thomas School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Mary was a public health nurse for Lentz Public Health Department. Mary was a member of Belmont United Methodist Church for over fifty years. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from five until seven o'clock in the evening on Wednesday, June 30, at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Thursday, July 1 in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, with a gathering one hour prior.
