Mary Elizabeth Tucker Payne

PAYNE, Mary Elizabeth Tucker, age 88 of Hermitage, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Payne, Sr.; son, John Thomas “J.T.” Payne; parents, John S. Tucker, Sr. and Martha Peal Tucker; 5 brothers. Survived by her children, Edward Lee Payne, Jr., Phyllis (Tim) Payne Denny, David Allen Payne, Patricia (Bill) Payne Wolfenbarger and Carl Ronald Payne; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother, Don Tucker; sister-in-law, Lilburn Tucker. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home Chapel with her nephew, Bro. Bill Tucker, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Bill Wolfenbarger, Tim Denny, Carl Payne, Ray Denny, Tyler Payne and Josh Payne will serve as Active Pallbearers. Johnny Harwell, Larry Hagar, Doug Rhodes, Larry Payne, Bob Denny, John Brown, Sr., Tyrus Fort and Joseph Payne will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Visitation with the family 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday and Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. The children would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers for their love and compassion for their mother; Sandra Ballard, Dorothy Carter, Clara Chaffin, Billie Ann Clay, Montrea Freeman & Dobie (dog), Naomi Huddleston, Ann Jetton and Lucille Ross.
