Mary Margaret O’Malley, or Aunt Kate as she was known to many, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, April 30th 2021. She was surrounded by family and was never alone, not even in her last moments.
She was born in Nashville on January 18, 1932 and was the loving daughter of John C. and Madeleine Connor O’Malley. Mary Margaret graduated from St. Cecilia Academy in the spring of 1950 and was a devoted, lifelong member of Holy Name Parish.
Mary Margaret was also a lifetime resident of East Nashville and remained in the family home throughout her entire life. She was proud of her career working at Cain Sloan department store, she was an avid quilter, cook book collector and, most importantly, she was a loving and doting aunt.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Madeleine, her brother Joseph Eugene O’Malley, and his wife, Betty Ladd O’Malley.
She is survived by her nieces and nephew, as well as multiple generations of great nieces and nephews, and her cousins whom she has always held dear.
Visitation will be held Thursday. May 6, 2021 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with Rosary service at 7:00pm at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37203 Funeral Mass in her honor will be held at 10:00am Friday May 7, 2021 at Holy Name Catholic Church, 521 Woodland Street,, Nashville, TN 37206. Mary Margaret will be laid to rest at Calvary cemetery 1001 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN 37210.
