Mary Rose McCabe (nee Daly) passed away on May 27, 2018, after a long illness. Born in West Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Grace Daly. Mary Rose was the beloved wife of the late Peter C. McCabe, Jr., of Wilmette, IL. They met at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. They raised five children on the North Shore of Chicago: Peter (Cindy), Anne (Jeff Lobelson, deceased), Frank (Ellen), Paul (Jocelyn), and Helen. She had eight grandchildren, Emmanuel Neumann, Grace, Faith, and Rose Lobelson, Clare, Layne, Emma, and Sami McCabe. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Walter McCabe.
While raising her children on the North Shore, Mary Rose and her daughter Helen started a national antique business, Indian Hill Antiques. She was a member of the International Society of Appraisers and was named one of the “Faces of Chicago” in 1989.
Mary Rose moved to Nashville, TN in 2002, where she became a member of the Women’s Club of Nashville, the University Club, and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Vanderbilt University.
The family is grateful to the staff at Lakeshore/The Meadows and Alive Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
A funeral mass for Mary Rose will be held at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville on May 30, 2018 at 10 a.m. Burial services at Calvary Cemetery in Evanston, IL will be private.
