Martha Celestial Frederick Crowson, 84, of Nashville, passed away Saturday morning, June 3. She was a native of Hackleburg, Alabama, in Marion County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Milton Crowson; parents, Joe Sephus and Lela Hood Frederick; brothers Dewey, Tommy, Johnny, Dinard, and Buford Frederick; and sisters Mona Hudson, Nona Lawler, and Opal Fisher. She is survived by three children: Allan Crowson (LaRue), Susan Turnbough (Jeff), Jeff Crowson (Kim); grandchildren Timothy Crowson (Katrina), Bethany Crowson Brummitt (Jared), Natalie Crowson, Matthew Turnbough (Brooke), Melissa Turnbough Mandy (Mason), Heather Crowson Milbrandt (James), Jon Crowson, Garrett Crowson; great-grandchildren Juliette, Silas, and Olivia Crowson; Andrew, Caroline, and Daniel Turnbough; Liam and Sofia Mandy; Lillian and Ellison Milbrandt; and a host of nieces and nephews. She served faithfully as a pastor’s wife at churches in South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama, and as a faculty wife at Welch College. She mentored many young ladies, college students, and future pastor’s wives. She supported her husband and all her children in their various life endeavors. She loved to cook and to welcome guests into her home. She enjoyed painting, listening to music, and interior decorating. She treasured her family, her extended family, and numerous friends, and enjoyed every opportunity to be with them. She was a member of Cross Timbers Free Will Baptist Church. The family wants to express its deep gratitude to the dedicated staff at Lakeshore Heartland Senior Living, for their excellent care, and their works of kindness over the past 12 months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any gifts be directed to Free Will Baptist International Missions, the Jeff Turnbough account, in memory. Funeral services will take place at Cross Timbers Free Will Baptist Church, 201 Cross Timbers Drive, Nashville, TN, 37221, Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Visitation for friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with the services to begin at 1:00 p.m.
