Lyla Ann Slaughter

SLAUGHTER, Lyla Ann – Born in Claremont, OK on the 9th of May 1926 to the late Leonard and Irene Stokes and passed away in Nashville, TN on the 10th of July 2013 at the age of 87. Mrs. Slaughter attended Harding University and was a member of Crieve Hall Church of Christ and Lipscomb Patrons Association. She enjoyed sewing, reading and baking. Survivors include her daughters, Becky Norsworthy, Bastrop, La., Diane Welch (Ron), Lebanon, TN, Gail Eakes (Eddie), Marietta, Ga.; son, Rick Slaughter (Heidi), Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Al Patrick, Lake Village, AK., Tony Patrick, Monroe, La., Wendi Warren, Lebanon, TN., Kristi Welch, Nashville, TN., Blake Eakes, Nashville, TN., Chad Eakes, Marietta, GA., Amy Kessler, Brooklyn, NY., Molly Kessler, Nashville, TN., Michael Kessler, Nashville, TN; great grandchildren, Baylee Patrick, Lake Village, AK., William Patrick, Monroe, La. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband, Duane Richard Slaughter. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from five o’clock until eight o’clock this evening at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday at two o’clock in the afternoon at Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Pallbearers: sons-in-law, Ron Welch and Eddie Eakes; grandsons, Al Patrick, Tony Patrick, Blake Eakes, Chad Eakes, Michael Kessler. A private interment will take place on Monday. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to ABLE Youth, c/o Rick Slaughter, 4316 Prescott Rd., Nashville, TN 37204. The family would like to thank the staff at both Richland Place and Alive Hospice for the care they provided.
