BARNES, Lloyd Edward age 92 of Nashville, TN died February 15, 2012. He was born July 3, 191 in Newark, Arkansas. A purple heart recipient, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a POW after his plane was shot down over Romania. He escaped his captors after a few months. He was a graduate of Batesville High School (Arkansas), Texas Weslyan College, and Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He was employed by the Baptist Sunday School Board (Lifeway) from 1955-1975 and by Metro from 1976-1984. He was an avid supporter of Glencliff High School. He was a Christian and a long time member of First Baptist Church, Nashville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Rogers Barnes. He is survived by his son, Rod Barnes (Janet) and by his daughters, Becky Barnes Wheeler (Fred) and Betty Barnes Hornsby; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral service to be conducted two-thirty p.m. on Friday February 17, 2012 in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall, interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from eleven a.m. until time of the service.
