Linda Marie Barker, age 84, of Smyrna, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Linda was born in Lois, Tennessee. She grew up in Tullahoma, Tennessee with her father, Dewey Davis, her mother Nannie Mae (Evans) Davis and her older brother, Larry Davis. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Henry Barker and her five daughters, Connie, Lisa, Karen, Sharon and Amy. Besides her husband and children, Linda is survived by her son-in-law’s: Bob, Kevin and Juan; Grandchildren: Jason, Lauren, Hillary, Matthew, Alexandra, Christina, Eric and Cody; Great-Grandchildren; Cicily, Izzy and Olivia.
As her young family grew Linda supported her family, community, school, and church such as the American Red Cross Youth Services, Norman Binkley Elementary School PTA carnivals, the John Overton High School marching band and serving in several positions at Woodbine Assembly of God Church.
Linda entered the workforce in the 1970’s working in the Sears & Roebuck Company, Hearing Aid Department on Lafayette Street, Nashville. In the 1980’s Linda began her career with Educator’s Credit Union on 21st Avenue South, Nashville. After retiring from Educator’s Credit Union, Linda pursued her interest in writing as an employee of the Rutherford Courier weekly newspaper published in Smyrna, Tennessee where she wrote about her local Smyrna community. Her lifelong interest in health and nursing led her to volunteer in the Stonecrest Medical Center Physical Therapy Department.
Linda loved flower gardening, butterflies, birds (especially hummingbirds), photography and painting. She was an avid reader and was a regular library patron at the Rutherford County Public Library, Smyrna Branch. Linda’s favorite book series were "The Mitford Years" by Jan Karon and the "All Creatures Great and Small" series by James Herriot. Linda enjoyed travelling, especially to visit with family during special occasions.
Linda had a life-long love of pets, especially dogs. Smokey, Pepe, Charlie and Rusty were her faithful and loving companions for many years.
Linda’s family and friends will miss her but are comforted by knowing she is well now and in the presence of Jesus Christ our Lord.

This will be a private family only funeral for Mrs. Barker. Only those who have received a direct invitation from the family are attending. Individuals should wear a mask and practice social distancing.
A visitation for Linda will be held Friday, January 21,2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
