Linda Sue Greer Arnold, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Her vibrant spirit, sense of adventure, and compassionate heart will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
Born on June 4, 1938, to Callie Ronalda Greer and Charles Eugene Greer, Linda grew up with a deep appreciation for family, faith, and creativity. She graduated from Cohn High School in 1956, where she was a proud member of the championship marching band—playing the oboe—and the school’s tennis team.
On May 31, 1958, she married the love of her life, Larry Totty Arnold. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love, laughter, and lasting memories. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her cherished siblings Eugene Greer (Mary) and Jinnette Jacobs (Mike), and her beloved daughter Lynetta Arnold.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 67 years, Larry Totty Arnold; her children Laurie Arnold Tompkins, Larry Totty Arnold Jr. (Melanie), and Lance Greer Arnold; her grandchildren Callie Greer Tompkins, Lauren Harrsch (Danny), Kelley Marie Tompkins, and Andrew Clemons Tompkins; and her great-grandson Duke Daniel Harrsch.
Linda had a remarkable talent for sewing and needlework. A gifted seamstress, she created beautiful clothing for her granddaughter Callie and award-winning decorative pillows during her many years with Calico Corners. She also loved to needlepoint, knit, and bake—her world-famous “GOO GOO Cheesecake” was a beloved holiday tradition.
Her adventurous spirit led her across the globe, with travels to Africa, Europe, Alaska, Mexico, and the Caribbean, as well as countless cruises and spontaneous drives with friends. She had a bumper sticker that perfectly captured her approach to life: “I am not lost, I am exploring.”
With an uncanny knack for misadventures—often involving wedged cars or mowers—Linda brought humor and lightness wherever she went. She cherished long walks, gardening, shelling peas on the deck, and spending time with friends and family at Pretty Creek Farm and Panama City Beach.
Linda held a deep and abiding faith. A long-time member of Otter Creek Church of Christ and formerly of Park Avenue Church of Christ, she found joy in gospel music, Elvis Presley, and Tuesday night trips to the theater at TPAC with dear friends. One of her most treasured memories was seeing Elvis live in concert, proudly preserving a sweat-stained scarf from that unforgettable night.
Linda's life was full of joy and community. She was actively involved in the Seed and Weed Garden Club, the Gourmet Club, the Centennial Club, and supported countless fundraisers for Franklin Road Academy and Action Auction (PBS). Her enthusiasm for service, friendship, and celebration enriched the lives of many.
Linda Arnold will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of love, laughter, creativity, and faith will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
