He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Alice (Swafford) Graham of Jasper, TN. Also, his brother, George; sisters, Lucille Totty, Beatrice Graham and Anna Deacons.
He is survived by his wife, Tillie of 66 years; sons, Les (Jeanie) Graham, Bruce Graham, Lee (Michele) Graham; grandson, Tyler (Aryn) Graham; granddaughter, Whitney (Frazier) Buttrey and 4 great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Greene; brothers, Roy, Reece (Betty), Rev. Dr. J.Billy (Anne) Graham.
He was a member of New Life Baptist Church, Stratford High Men’s Club, Civitan Club and a member of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge for 50 years. Leonard served 3 years in the army during WWII. He was recipient of 3 bronze stars and a medal of honor in Italy and France. He received his honorable discharge in 1946.
After military service, Leonard trained as a life insurance salesman to eventually partner and establish an independent insurance agency in east Nashville.
Foremost, a family provider, he loved road traveling, outdoor hobbies, and watching televised sports. We love you and will miss you, Pap.
A visitation will be held from four until eight o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 29th of October, 2013 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A funeral service will be officiated by Bro. Mark Brandenburg and Rev. Dr. J. Billy Graham at one o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 30th of October, 2013 in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to New Life Baptist Church at 4209 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216.
