JOHNSON, Lee Roy, Jr. age 87, passed away the 19th of September 2011. He was born in Nashville, TN on the 10th of June 1924 to the late Leroy and Hoyta (Chester) Johnson. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Smith. He served on a oil tanker, in the South Pacific campaign, in the US Navy during WWII. He had many stories to tell about his experiences and was a Lifetime Member of American legion Post 5. He was employed with Nashville Electric Service, for over forty years, and enjoyed it every day he worked. . Roy was a spiritual man, and was a active member of Glen Leven Presbyterian Church for over 50 years serving as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Advisor and Many Committees. He was an active golfer and Member of McCabe Golf Club. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Eloise (Mitchell) Johnson; son, Don (Janet) Johnson; daughter, Cheryl Cunningham; four grandchildren: Jennifer Johnson, Eric (Carisa) Cunningham, Ryan (LeighAnne) Cunningham and Molly Cunningham; three great-grandsons, Jackson & Parker Cunningham, and expecting the arrival of Brody Lee Cunningham , in October 2011; Sister, Dorothy Clements; Brothers, Charles Ray and James A. Johnson. Active Pallbearers: Eric Cunningham, Ryan Cunningham, Ronald Carr, Tom Diehl, Floyd Cunningham, and Eddie Andrews; Honorary: Dr. James Baker, Dr. Edwin Anderson, Dr. Jones Bonboy, Elders of Glen Leven Presbyterian Church, and Retirees of Nashville Electric Service. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, the 22nd of September, 2011 at Glen Leven Presbyterian Church, 3906 Franklin Road, Nashville, TN 37204, with Dr. Mark S. Bryan will be officiating. The body will lie in state from nine in the morning till time of services at ten. The family will receive friends from five until seven in the evening at the church. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Glen Leven Presbyterian Church. The family wishes to express gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff of St. Thomas Hospital.
