He was born in Bloomington, IL to the late, Leslie and Pearl Tipler.
Larry attended Illinois Wesleyan University on a football scholarship and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with an education degree. He was a veteran serving in the army and stationed at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs. In Colorado, he met the love of his life, Vivian McCarthy Tipler. They were married in Crystal Lake, IL in 1973 and resided in Denver before moving to Normal, IL in 1975. Larry had a career in the manufacturing industry, and in his later years, while living in Kingston Springs, he enjoyed working as a real estate agent.
Larry was a member of the White Bluff Masonic Lodge. Larry and Vivian moved to Normandy, TN in 2019 to continue retirement. They were married for 49 years. He was an avid fisherman, with a love for water sports including boating and skiing. He loved gardening, da Bears, and treasured his youngest grandson, who just turned 3.
Larry is preceded in death by his father Leslie Tipler and mother Pearl Gary Tipler, one brother, Tommy Tipler.
Larry is survived by wife Vivian McCarthy Tipler, daughter Kelly Tipler (John Hood), son Chad (Cindy) Tipler and three grandchildren.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from five until seven in the evening on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, May 27, 2022 in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
