Judith Ann Newman-St. John, age 70, of La Vergne, TN passed away September 23, 2019. A native of Nashville, TN, she was the next door neighbor at birth, of the man she married, her husband for 33 years, Robert St. John. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lucille Newman, and her sister Donna Faye Parker. Judy is survived by sisters Martha Arnold of Waverly, TN, Rebecca Newman of Nashville, and Cheryl Wolfe of Murfreesboro, TN. She was close to her step-sons Robert William St. John of Cleveland, OH and James Thomas St. John of Sandy, UT, and many wonderful nephews and nieces.
Judy was a retired consecrated United Methodist Diaconal Minister with a Master’s Degree in Christian Education from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. Her appointment and employment was with The United Methodist Publishing House in Nashville for nearly 39 years. She was devoted to the Christian education of children, and she edited, wrote and published many books for children.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on September 28, 2019, from twelve thirty in the afternoon until two thirty. A Celebration of Life will follow at two thirty at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN. Officiating will be the Reverend Dr. Robert E. Lowdermilk III of Reidsville, NC. Family and friends are invited to join in fellowship following the Celebration of Life in Woodlawn’s Family Lounge.
