John was born April 25, 1947, to Louise Shull Morrison and White Hall Morrison Jr. in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Blue Ridge High School in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He played basketball and attended Centenary College in Shreveport Louisiana and graduated Sum Cum Laude from Vanderbilt. Upon graduation he worked for Jamison Bedding where he was later named Vice President. From there he went to own his own business, J&J Vending for the next 19 years. Upon selling the business he retired in 2009 and continued his passion and playing golf weekly. With his love of basketball, he also took up becoming a high school basketball referee which he dearly loved. His hobbies included golf, watching sports on T.V., word search puzzles, playing scrabble and beach vacations.
John is survived by wife, Judy(Tidwell) of 53 years; son, Johnston Shull Morrison, Jr (Jamie) of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Stacey Nicole Preston (James) of Mandeville, Louisiana; his grandchildren; James and Rebecca Preston, Jacob, and Eva Morrison
John is preceded in death by his parents White Hall and Louise Morrison Jr; his siblings, White Hall Morrison III and Anne Morrison Krejci.
The family will receive friends Wednesday February 15 from 1 to 2 p.m at Mount Olivet Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 2:30pm at Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to a charity of your choice.
