John R. Roberts, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017, in Madison, Tennessee, after a valiant battle with cancer. John was born on December 7, 1938, in Manchester, Tennessee, the youngest of 7 surviving children born to Bertie Elijah Roberts and Eunice Carter Roberts. John moved to Nashville and married Carolyn Gentry June 9, 1961. John was devoted to Carolyn, his wife of 46 years, until her death in February, 2008. John worked at Baltz Bros./Elm Hill Meats for many years before becoming co-owner of A-Plus Mobile Pressure Cleaning and Truck Repair, where he continued to work as long as his health allowed. John R. is survived by his children and their spouses, Clay and Anita Roberts of Mt. Juliet; Bill and Amy Roberts of Waynesboro, VA; Tim and Linda Roberts of Donelson; Kellie and Jim Highfill of Hermitage; his sister, Ann Farrar, of Manchester; fourteen grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was a loyal family man, always willing to travel long or short distances to attend his grandchildren's events. He was also an active member of Living Water Fellowship. John was a hard-working businessman, proud Predators fan, and a Hardee's breakfast fanatic. Visitation hours will be from two o'clock to eight o'clock in the evening on Monday, September 18th, and from nine-thirty to eleven-thirty in the morning on Tuesday, September 19th, with the funeral service to follow at eleven-thirty in the morning on Tuesday. All services will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home in Nashville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
