He was born in Monroe, LA, Oct. 16, 1933 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He retired from L&N/CSX railroad after 39 years of service. John was an avid sports enthusiast; especially races, baseball, and football. He was a proud member of Jefferson Military School Alumni, Natchez, MS, NRA, American Legion and VFW.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Toots Peterson and Glendola Stewart Peterson, and son, Robert Peterson.
Survivors include wife of 58 years, Betty Doris Peterson, Pulaski, TN; son Kenneth Peterson, Lebanon, TN; daughter Susan Peterson, Old Hickory, TN and granddaughters Amanda Sullivan, Millington, TN and Sara Peterson, Lebanon, TN; 3 great grandchildren, and special friends, Art Seger, Sheila Canty, Linwood Easterling, Susan and Tom Campbell, and members of Second St. Church of Christ.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30am at Woodlawn Cemetery, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204, in the Field of Honor’s Section, with Jeff Jenkins officiating.
