John Franklin Hood, Sr., age 98 went to be with the Lord on September 20th, 2023.
Franklin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a kind gentleman always with a smile. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. After serving in the Navy he graduated from Peabody College and worked for Life and Casualty and American General Insurance Companies. However his love was working for 55 years for Vanderbilt Athletics where he made many friends. He was a long time member of Belmont United Methodist Church and the Harbison Fellowship Class.
Franklin is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ruth; son, John Hood (Robin); daughters, Carol Foster (Herb) and Mary Beth Russell (Charlie); grandchildren, Jonathan (Lindsey) and Adam Love; Will (Lindsey) and Brian (Caroline) Foster; Kate Kimbrough (Zach); Lara Allen (Jason); and Kyle Hood (Lauren). Great-grandchildren, Dylan and Patrick Love; Brooklyn and Sophie Love; Kip Foster; Emmaline; Corban and Josie Foster; Camilla; Graham and Warner Kimbrough; Piper Allen and Luke Hood.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Belmont United Methodist Church.
A Visitation will take place Saturday, September 23rd at 10:00 am with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 am at Belmont United Methodist Church.
