John L. Herod Jr.

Herod, John L., Jr., “Papa John”, age 88, of Nashville, passed away at his home, on Monday, August 5, 2013. Mr. Herod was preceded in death by his parents, John L. Herod, Sr. and Clara Williams Herod; and by his first wife of 26 years, Ervine “Peggy” Herod. Mr. Herod is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Ruth Fuller Herod; daughters, Jan (Rex) McNeely, Brenda (Jim) Sharp, and Gayle (Larry) Graves; sons, John Gregg(Kathy) Herod and Michael Kent (Janine) Herod; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren with one more great grandchild to be born soon. Funeral service will be at One O’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Placement will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Herod was a WW II US Navy veteran, having served in the South Pacific. For many years he was Vice President and lithographer for Collum and Ghertner and also superintendent for Courier Printing in Murfreesboro. He was a member of Riverwood Church of Christ. His grandsons will proudly serve as pallbearers. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation Wednesday evening from Four O’clock till Eight O’clock at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
