John Thomas Ervin Sr.

ERVIN, John Thomas, Sr. age 82, November 5, 2010. Preceded in death by his son, John T. Ervin, Jr.Survived by his wife of 40 years, Joan Ervin; son, Steven D. Ervin (Debbie), Robert T. Ervin (Cynthia), Michael W. Ervin and daughter, Cynthia E. Guidry (Eddie); daughter in-law, Becky Ervin. Mr. Ervin retired as a Lieutenant from the Metro Police Dept. in 1989 after 38 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Metro retirees Association, the Fraternal Order of Police and Pennington United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Buena Vista Lodge # 639, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Al Menah Shrine, the Director’s Staff and Potentate’s Guard of the Al Menah Shrine Center. Remains rest at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11-1 and 6-8 p.m. with Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service to be conducted Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed McClellan officiating. Entombment to follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Honary Pallbearers will be the Director’s Staff and the Potentate’s Guard of Al Menah Shrine and Don Young. Serving as active Pallbearers will be Ken Blanton, Billy Burgess, Charlie Cardwell, Don Heath, Marvin Ryan and Dale Smith.
