John was born on August 20, 1944 to the late John Willard Colebank and Mary Emma Callis and they precede him in death. He married Carole Pancake on August 20, 1966 in Nashville, TN and she survives. Also surviving are their children Van Oliver (Erica) Colebank of Mount Juliet, TN and John Arthur “Art” (Karen) Colebank of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren, Brooke, Emily, Garron, and Lillia Colebank; and one sister, Linda Colebank.
As a young man, he was involved in 4-H club and was active on, and had a love for farming. John retired in 2006 after working for Art Pancake’s Party and Wedding Rentals since 1979. After retirement, he and Carole spent a majority of their time traveling and visiting 48 states and over 200 National Parks. He loved taking photos with the camera Van and Art bought him, and telling the story behind each photo taken. A true man of god, John had a strong faith, and was a longtime member of Nolensville United Methodist Church. At church, John was a mentor to many in his church family and was very active with the youth group. John and Carole were also very active in the Nolensville community.
Loving, a true leader, family man, and roll model are just a few ways John can be described. He had a great love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He treasured every minute and memory he had, and he will be greatly missed.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from two o’clock until four o’clock at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, and on Monday March 2, 2020 at Nolensville United Methodist Church from twelve thirty until the time of service at one thirty. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
