Jessica Moore Younger (1944-2024) passed away on May 30, 2024. She is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, John R. Younger, along with their only child, Mary Clare Champion (Christopher), and two grandchildren, Leland and John Champion. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louise V. Moore and Thomas L. Moore. She was born in Sharon, TN and moved to Memphis, TN at the age of six. She was the Valedictorian of her Class at Kingsbury High School in Memphis, TN and went on to graduate from Vanderbilt University. Jessica taught high school at Hillsboro High School in Nashville, and through this job she met her love. She later taught at The Westminster School (now Currey-Ingram). A long time member of Christ Church Cathedral, she was active with her Emmaus group and served in various other roles on committees and being of service to the church. She was a member of the Centennial Club and volunteered for the Council on Aging as well as for the Nashville Symphony Guild. Jessica will be remembered by those who loved her for her unwavering poise and the kindness and hospitality she showed others. She could always be counted on to be present for those who needed her, though she would shy away from attention for this. She was the epitome of grace and steadiness, ever a safe port in the storm for those of us who relied on her. She was happiest when she was with her grandchildren, especially on Hilton Head Island and in Seaside, FL.
Visitation will be at Christ Church Cathedral, Nashville, on June 15, 2024 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm, services will follow at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to Christ Church Cathedral.
