Jerry Eugene White left this world and passed on to be with the Father early Thursday morning, December 8th, 2022. He is survived by his four children: David, Phillip, Mary, and Elizabeth, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Jerry was born in Cullman, Alabama on February 26, 1934, to Abby Reece White and Hazel Louise Yeager White. He married the love of his life, Sylvia "Ann" White on December 5, 1957, and stood by her side until her passing in 2018.
His loved ones would describe him as dedicated. Not only did he fulfill his duties as a husband and father, but he also served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked diligently and provided for his family as a mechanical engineer. He served as a deacon in his church for 50 years. In retirement, he worked for the American Red Cross as a teacher of first aid. He was actively involved in his children's lives as a president of the Parent-Teacher Association for Norman Binkley Elementary School, Ford Green Middle School, McMurray Junior High, and Overton High School. He was even the President and Transportation Chairman for the Overton High School Band Booster.
In his later years, he spent weekends hosting his family, enjoying meals, and sharing stories about his life with his children, their spouses, his grandchildren, and their spouses. He was a man of few words, but a man of many chuckles, much wisdom, and great love for his family. He was a man of duty, a man of honor, and a man of faith. He will be missed greatly.
A gathering of family and friends for Jerry will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM.
