James Austin was a resident of Nashville, TN his entire life. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and Peabody College. James was an avid baseball fan, and played baseball for his high school and college teams. During the Korean Conflict, he was on the U.S. Army’s baseball team as their pitcher.
James Austin was employed at B & G Wholesalers, Inc. as a Sales Manager and Vice President for over 20 years. He was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church.
After retiring he enjoyed traveling, fine dining, watching Vanderbilt & Titans ball teams with Nancy, the love of his life.
Preceded in death by his parents, Wiley B. White, Sr. and Rose Camp White; brothers, Wiley, Henry and Lee White; and step-son, Steven Jeffords.
Survived by devoted and loving wife of 31 years, Nancy White; step-daughter, Stephanie Jeffords; nieces, Rosann Smothers, Melissa White, Melinda (David) McClendon; great niece, Lindsey Carol; step-grandson, Troy (Amber) Kimbrell; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from five o’ clock in the evening until seven on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at eleven-thirty in the morning on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Funeral services conducted by Dr. Sam Boyd of Forrest Hills Baptist Church.
Austin was loved and cherished by his family and friends and he never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed.
