Mr. James Paul Newman age 85, of Nashville, TN, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015. Mr. Newman was born in Nashville, TN, on October 13, 1929, the son of the late Paul Preston and Evelyn McDowell Newman. He attended Hillsboro High School and Lipscomb University. Mr. Newman was a Former President and Chairman- Mid State Steel, Inc.; Vice President-Kentucky Steel Service Center; Vice President-Carolina Steel Corp.; President-Comfortzone Corp.; and Director-Dozier Equipment Int’l. In addition to his parents, Mr. Newman was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Jean Binkley. He was Past President of the Southern Chapter of the Steel Service Center Institute; Sales and Marketing Executives of Nashville; Past Member of Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Nashville Rotary Club, Richland Country Club, Corinthian Masonic Lodge #414 F&M, and First Presbyterian Church. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Lola Daniel Newman; children, James Newman, Jr. (Jessica), Daniel Newman (Marcia), Thomas Newman (Patty), and Cynthia Jenkins (Douglas); grandchildren, Sarah Schmidt (Ben), Jeffrey Newman (Rebecca), James Newman III (Lauren), Austin Newman, Jennifer Shelton (Thomas), Allison Newman, Natalie Johnston, and Nicole Johnston; and great-grandchildren, Georgia Schmidt, Easton Schmidt, and Caroline Newman. Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Tuesday from three o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening, Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Graveside and interment services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at ten o’clock in the morning for family only, Woodlawn Memorial Park.
